Adventure and the mountains

A life lived in a routine way, carrying out mundane matters, is not a life lived to the fullest. Don’t just lead your life, or don’t just pass it, try to Live your life. Life’s journey is like a roller coaster ride, but adventure is life is very much needed. Adventure is like the spice of life. Live your life to the fullest, make adventure a way of your life.

Adventure can be done in many ways like bungee jumping, parasailing, scuba diving, cliff climbing, trekking, skydiving, river rafting, mountaineering and many more such activities.

Mountaineering is described as the adventure sport of mountain climbing. Imagine a white expanse everywhere, snow clad high mountains on all sides, what a beauty it must be! White bed sheet of snow everywhere, what a splendid view that must be! It can only be imagined with closed eyes. The mountaineers get to see the epic beauties of nature, inhale the crisp, fresh mountain air, which we mortals can only imagine. What adrenaline rush the mountaineers must be feeling! Every adventure enthusiast dreams of climbing the peak point of the Himalayan mountains i.e. Mount Everest.

Mountaineering might seem easy and beautiful, but, it is done in very difficult terrains in difficult weather conditions with less supply of food, water and even oxygen. Even though all the mountaineers are well trained and well equipped to face difficult situations, still in the face of adversity, even a small movement becomes a Herculean task.

Mountaineering is not done in a single day, it takes many days and that depends on many conditions especially the weather conditions of the mountains. From this point of view, for mountaineers or mountain climbers, shelter is of very much importance. High mountains like the Himalayas require many days of camping. Base Camp is a mountain area which is used for staging an attempt at the summit. Such camps are positioned in a way so as to provide safety from harsh weather conditions of the summit to the mountain climbers. Depending on the height of the summit, a mountain can have many camps above the base camp. The Mount Everest has camps I to IV above the Base Camp.

Mountaineering gives the adrenaline rush to the adventure junkies still it is one of the most dangerous activities in the world. There are many hazards involved in mountaineering which are like adverse climatic conditions, avalanches, equipment failure, fatigue, etc. and these situations can sometimes even lead to loss of life.

Still, no glory is achieved in life without taking risks in life. If you want to enjoy and live your life to the fullest, then include adventure in your life, take risks in life. Don’t just pass your life, live it.

Everything has changed again and there are many obstacles in her way but she can’t give up now. Fate keeps conspiring against her but she is determined to get back to the city which owes her so much. They took her family, her home and the truth from her and she won’t stop until she’s paid them back.

My Review -:

Like the other three books in the series, this book is also full of action and adventure. This is not a standalone book, if you want to read it, then first read the previous books in the series. Believe me, if you like reading adventure books, it will not disappoint you and you will just fall for all the books.

I felt happy reading this book because Maya and Coal are together here. Maya is as strong and brave as ever and also it was good to see that she was clear about her emotional feelings for Coal and Taylor. I always felt that Taylor should be with someone and it was good to see that there was some initial spark between Taylor and Alicia. I hope there is some chemistry between them in the next series.

Their encounter with the creepers was quite adventurous but there was one thing which I didn’t like. I always had a feeling that there was some secret behind the creeper king and that he might have been a human in the disguise of a creeper. But nothing much was written about him. Now I am eagerly waiting for the last book, so all things get sorted and Maya could unite with her parents.

My Rating -: 4/5

My Verdict -:

If you are an adventure loving person, then just grab the book but first read the previous three books.

Broken by Susanne Valenti: Book Review

Book: Broken
Author: Susanne Valenti
Publication date: 31st January 2016
Number of pages: EBook, 261

About the Book:-

Since all of her hopes were dashed, Maya is struggling to adapt to her new life. Where dreams and wishes once kept her going, now there is only the burning desire for revenge. She’s changing, hardening into the person she needs to be to hold it together but sometimes the cracks still show. She wants nothing more than to go back and become the person she used to be but sometimes she can’t even remember who that was. Nothing will be right again until she resets the balance. Blood will pay for blood and she won’t give up until the final drop has been spilled. Some say she’s taking it too far, others say it isn’t far enough.

My Review:-

The story begins on an emotional front, and it made my heart-break to see Maya in such an emotional turmoil. At the same time, it was commendable to look at Maya in a never seen before avatar as a very strong and determined individual. The whole story is full of action, which any action loving individual would enjoy reading.

I loved reading the starting part, but the end part of the book just stole away the show. I felt very happy reading the last part of the book and now I have high expectations of the next series. The mid portion of the book is full of action sequences, but at a time it gets a little boring reading only about fights.

In this series, the character of Alicia has gotten much to do. I hope that she gets a better part to play in the next series. The only bone of contention in the book was, Maya getting closer to Taylor in her desperation to forget her pain. But, all in all, the book was quite enjoyable with its action, revenge, love and pain.

My Rating:- 3.75/5

Linked by Susanne Valenti: Book Review

image1 (1)

Book: Linked
Author: Susanne Valenti
Published: October 2015
Number of pages: EBook, 242

About the book:

In a world she never knew existed, Maya is coming to terms with how much her life has changed. Danger lurks around every corner, nothing is as she expects and she’s never felt so alive. But the choices she makes could change everything and jeopardise the things she cherishes most. There is so much to learn and so much to love but her heart is pulling her back. The Guardians are hiding in the shadow cast by their Wall, concealing the truth from the people inside. It’s a shadow that darkens her happiness and she can’t stop fighting until the truth comes to light. It would be easier to walk away but Maya has never run from anything and she’s not about to start now.

My Review:

Maya, Laurie and Taylor undergo rigorous training under Hunter and it was commendable seeing them adapting so well in the real outside world. Maya always proves her worth in almost every difficult situation. I really admire Maya as a strong and confident person. And her romance and chemistry with Coal is just enviable. But Taylor proves to be a roadblock in all their romantic encounters, which was a bit frustrating for me. I wish, Taylor finds his true love in the next series.

The first book ‘Chained’ kept me hooked to it and the second in the series ‘Linked’, had a hypnotizing effect on me. It made me love Maya, Coal and Alicia, even more. But the last few pages made me cry and when I read it the second time, I cried again. It was a devastating end and now I am hoping that something good will come in the next series. A book written in a simple way, which is full of adventures, twists and turns, and it will never let you feel bored even a little.

I loved this book and I am hoping that all the other books in the series are also similarly enjoyable. Hats off to the author, you have reignited the reading passion in me.
