Adventure and the mountains

A life lived in a routine way, carrying out mundane matters, is not a life lived to the fullest. Don’t just lead your life, or don’t just pass it, try to Live your life. Life’s journey is like a roller coaster ride, but adventure is life is very much needed. Adventure is like the spice of life. Live your life to the fullest, make adventure a way of your life.

Adventure can be done in many ways like bungee jumping, parasailing, scuba diving, cliff climbing, trekking, skydiving, river rafting, mountaineering and many more such activities.

Mountaineering is described as the adventure sport of mountain climbing. Imagine a white expanse everywhere, snow clad high mountains on all sides, what a beauty it must be! White bed sheet of snow everywhere, what a splendid view that must be! It can only be imagined with closed eyes. The mountaineers get to see the epic beauties of nature, inhale the crisp, fresh mountain air, which we mortals can only imagine. What adrenaline rush the mountaineers must be feeling! Every adventure enthusiast dreams of climbing the peak point of the Himalayan mountains i.e. Mount Everest.

Mountaineering might seem easy and beautiful, but, it is done in very difficult terrains in difficult weather conditions with less supply of food, water and even oxygen. Even though all the mountaineers are well trained and well equipped to face difficult situations, still in the face of adversity, even a small movement becomes a Herculean task.

Mountaineering is not done in a single day, it takes many days and that depends on many conditions especially the weather conditions of the mountains. From this point of view, for mountaineers or mountain climbers, shelter is of very much importance. High mountains like the Himalayas require many days of camping. Base Camp is a mountain area which is used for staging an attempt at the summit. Such camps are positioned in a way so as to provide safety from harsh weather conditions of the summit to the mountain climbers. Depending on the height of the summit, a mountain can have many camps above the base camp. The Mount Everest has camps I to IV above the Base Camp.

Mountaineering gives the adrenaline rush to the adventure junkies still it is one of the most dangerous activities in the world. There are many hazards involved in mountaineering which are like adverse climatic conditions, avalanches, equipment failure, fatigue, etc. and these situations can sometimes even lead to loss of life.

Still, no glory is achieved in life without taking risks in life. If you want to enjoy and live your life to the fullest, then include adventure in your life, take risks in life. Don’t just pass your life, live it.

Bariatric surgery and its effects on kidneys

Bariatric surgery. Have you heard about Bariatric surgery? It is a weight loss surgery which is achieved by decreasing the stomach size with a gastric band or by removing a portion of the stomach or by resecting and re-routing the small intestine to a small stomach pouch. You might have heard about liposuction, which is a cosmetic procedure for the removal of small amounts of unwanted body fat. Liposuction is not a weight loss operation, however, bariatric surgery can achieve a lasting weight loss for the treatment of morbid obesity. For patients having BMI greater than 35, bariatric surgery is the best option for weight loss.

In today’s world, people’s lifestyles have become sedentary. Most of the strenuous works are done by machines, people working in government offices, IT professionals; they are required to sit for long duration and don’t do much physical activity. Even housewives who don’t do much household chores; they also lead a sedentary life. In all such cases, when people don’t do much physical activity and even don’t pay attention towards exercising, overweight and obesity become a major issue. Not exercising and unhealthy eating is quite prevalent in today’s time.

Overweight and obesity don’t come alone, they lead to many other medical problems. Everyone wants to have a healthy and medically fit body, still obesity is a big problem in today’s world. Obesity is becoming a problem even among the younger generation. There are many ways to reduce weight, exercise and healthy diet are very important for a sound body and mind. But, junk food, unhealthy eating habits, improper sleep patterns and sedentary lifestyle are playing havoc with people’s lives. Still the fact is

Wherever there is evil, there is good. Wherever there is a problem, there is a solution to that problem.

Similarly, almost all medical problems have some medicine or surgery for their treatment. There has been tremendous development in the field of medical science, now there are cures and medicines for almost every ailment. In earlier times people used to die even due to diseases like malaria, cholera, pneumonia etc . Now the scenario has changed completely. In the same way, even overweight and obesity have weight loss treatments.

Weight loss surgery can improve or eliminate diabetes related kidney disease in obese diabetic patients. The improper control of blood sugar increases the risk of kidney disease or damage known as diabetic nephropathy. According to research, bariatric surgery had better than expected results on the kidney problems. Studies have shown that such surgeries cause a long-term weight loss, recovery from diabetes, improvement in cardiovascular risk factors and reduction in mortality rate.

Manipal hospital is a renowned name in providing high quality medical facilities. I myself have undergone various treatments at Manipal hospital and even delivered my first baby there. Light passing through ventilator

light through ventilator

This is the first time I am participating in the #MundaneMonday challenge and I really loved the concept of looking at everyday mundane things in a special way. It is just a matter of changing one’s perspective. Thanks photrablogger for coming up with this concept.

I don’t know if this pic is fit for the Mundane Monday challenge, but still this is my first attempt at it. This pic is of light passing through the ventilator in my room. It is just a random click. Hope you like it.
