Rangoli designs and India

Rangoli is a form of art in India, which is usually drawn or made during festivals or auspicious occasions in front of the entrance doors or courtyards of the house. An art form or a tradition which is passed between generations. Rangoli is mostly made by women of the house. Rangoli drawing is popular in many parts of India, be it Rangoli in Karnataka, Kolam in Tamilnadu, Kalam in Kerala, Alpana in fc West Bengal, Aripana in Bihar, Mandana in Rajasthan and it is gaining popularity in other parts also.

In the Rangoli making process, usually the outline of the design is made using a chalk and then different colours are used for the filling purposes. The colours used for filling are mostly dry rice powder, turmeric powder, coloured sand, etc. Sometimes even flowers and petals are used for filling up the design, such a Rangoli is known as a Floral Rangoli. The Rangoli designs consist of various patterns, they include geometric shapes, flowers, petals, leaves, birds and even pictures of Gods and Goddesses.

Nowadays, even ready-made Rangoli designs or stencils are available in the market. One just needs to make the outline of the design using the stencil without much effort and then fill it up using different colours. Rangoli making is very famous during festivals like Onam, Pongal, Ugadi and Diwali but it is also made during other auspicious days and functions.

I am a person, who is not so good in drawing and also I am not much interested in stuffs like Rangoli making. But life changes a lot after marriage, plus seeing my neighbour in Bangalore preparing Rangoli on every festival, always inspired me to try my hands for Rangoli drawing. So I bought myself a Rangoli stencil and different colours for Diwali. From the past few years, I am making Rangoli during Diwali, which is said to bring good luck and prosperity. I am a rookie in Rangoli making and year by year I am gaining practice. This is the pic of the Rangoli, which I made during last Diwali.

Rangoli is like a divine art form to please the almighty and bring good luck and prosperity in the house, also it is deep rooted in our Indian culture. We should help in keeping this art form alive and should pass it on to our younger generation.

Ethnic fashion in India and Craftsvilla

Craftsvilla is India’s no 1 platform for ethnic products. It has the latest collection of ethnic wear like saree, salwar suit, lehenga choli, ready-made blouses, kurti, jewellery, etc. For any of your ethnic wear needs, just go to Craftsvilla site and your problems are solved. It has everything one needs under one roof.

Many a times I have heard these words, which goes like this

“Indian nari (woman), looks beautiful in a saree”.

I am not saying that western dresses don’t look good on Indian woman, but ethnic Indian dresses like saree and salwar suit add a special touch to our special occasions, functions and festivals. An Indian woman can easily carry any western wear, but saree and salwar suit add a special beauty to the person wearing them. And truly, an Indian woman looks beautiful in a saree.

In India, go to different parts and you will come across different ways of wearing a saree, be it the Bengali style of wearing a saree or the Maharashtrian style or the Gujarati style or the South Indian style. Nowadays, wearing saree on a daily basis is almost becoming obsolete, especially in the urban areas, even though in rural areas, it is still the preferred daily wear of married women. But now the scenario is changing in small towns and even in some rural areas and newly married girls prefer salwar suit instead of saree for daily wear. A salwar suit looks cool and elegant similar to a saree.

Times are changing and choices are changing, still saree is the most preferred ethnic wear by married women and even by unmarried girls for special occasions and festivals. Even corporate offices celebrate ethnic day where women come to the office wearing a saree. In today’s India, Bollywood movies and Bollywood celebrities have a strong impact on the fashion sense of today’s generation. Be it the cool and casual outfits of Deepika Padukone or the sexy and elegant saree worn by Priyanka Chopra, everything leaves an impression on today’s people. As per me, both Deepika and Priyanka can carry a saree in a sexy and glamorous way. They can flaunt and make even a simple saree look very elegant. They have given a new dimension to wearing a saree and making it sexy, elegant and cool.

Even though, western dresses may seem cool, but Indian saree and salwar suit is the best for any festival or function. Craftsvilla is there for all your fashion needs.

They took her family, her home and the truth from her and she won’t stop until she’s paid them back.

My Review -:

Like the other three books in the series, this book is also full of action and adventure. This is not a standalone book, if you want to read it, then first read the previous books in the series. Believe me, if you like reading adventure books, it will not disappoint you and you will just fall for all the books.

I felt happy reading this book because Maya and Coal are together here. Maya is as strong and brave as ever and also it was good to see that she was clear about her emotional feelings for Coal and Taylor. I always felt that Taylor should be with someone and it was good to see that there was some initial spark between Taylor and Alicia. I hope there is some chemistry between them in the next series.

Their encounter with the creepers was quite adventurous but there was one thing which I didn’t like. I always had a feeling that there was some secret behind the creeper king and that he might have been a human in the disguise of a creeper. But nothing much was written about him. Now I am eagerly waiting for the last book, so all things get sorted and Maya could unite with her parents.

My Rating -: 4/5

My Verdict -:

If you are an adventure loving person, then just grab the book but first read the previous three books.

Placeoforigin.in – for the love of tea and snacks

Whenever guests arrive at our homes, it is almost customary to offer them tea or coffee along with snacks. Usually we offer tea  to our guests and neighbours. Even if neighbours come to our house, we ask them about tea or coffee. If neighbours come unannounced, it is not a big deal, you can offer them tea along with something to eat. But if special guests come and that too unannounced, the situation can get a little embarrassing or uncomfortable if one is not in a condition to prepare some snacks for them along with tea or coffee.

Nobody wants to face that ignominy of being in such a situation and after all special guests need special treatment, even if they are unannounced ones. For the rescue of the people of India, placeoforigin.in has come, so that we don’t land in such situations. Placeoforigin.in is India’s first marketplace for speciality Indian foods, ethnic foods and even regional delicacies. But the best part is that all the food products are sourced directly from the producer and delivered direct to the end consumer. What can be better than this? There are no middlemen, so both producers and consumers get good deals.

Tea is like the national beverage of India, still coffee also does not lag behind in this race. Coffee is a favourite among the people of southern India and even among the youngsters. Placeoforigin.in offers a wide range of tea, coffee and green tea, but that is not all. It also offers a wide range of tea/coffee accompaniments like biscuits, cakes, namkeen items and regional snack items. We Indians are big foodies and even great hosts. We always offer a variety of snacks along with tea or coffee to our guests and Placeoforigin.in is proving to be helpful in this endeavour.

For all the health conscious Indians, Placeoforigin.in has different varieties of green tea for them. Have a cup of green tea and make your evenings relaxing. Every evening, it gets quite cumbersome to prepare some snacks for the family, so why not stock up the snack items from Placeoforigin.in and make the evenings more enjoyable and less tiresome.

Placeoforigin.in is like a life saver for all those people who don’t have time to prepare snacks every evening. Just stock up tea, coffee or green tea and food accompaniments from Placeoforigin.in, and you will never have to face an embarrassing situation in front of your guests, neighbours and even family members. Evenings are meant to be enjoyed with family and Placeoforigin.in helps in keeping the evenings enjoyable.
